You see it everywhere now. On hoodies, hats, bios, signs at games. "Jesus is King." It's become a phrase people wear. But it's worth asking what it actually means, because it's not a slogan. It's a claim about who runs everything.
Where it comes from
The idea runs through the whole Bible, but a couple of verses say it plainly.
"On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of kings and Lord of lords." (Revelation 19:16)
"...that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth." (Philippians 2:10)
Calling Jesus King isn't us promoting him to the position. It's us recognizing something that's already true.
What it means day to day
If Jesus is King, then he's not just King on Sunday. He's King over your money, your relationships, your phone, your plans, the parts of your life you'd rather run yourself. That's the uncomfortable and freeing part.
Uncomfortable because it means I'm not in charge. Freeing because, honestly, I'm not a very good king of my own life anyway. Handing that over to someone who actually knows what he's doing is a relief.
Why we put it big on a hoodie
People ask why our designs are so bold on the back. The honest answer is that we want them to start conversations. A hoodie that says Jesus is King has ended up being a doorway into real talks for a lot of people. I wrote more about that in the idea behind a walking billboard.
The clothes aren't the point. Jesus is. The shirt is just the reminder and the conversation starter.
If you want to wear it, the Jesus Is King hoodie and the Jesus Is King tee are two of our most-worn pieces. You can see the rest of our hoodies or browse everything. But before you buy anything, sit with the phrase. If Jesus really is King, that changes more than what's in your closet.
